Underwater Boat Maintenance on a NORDHAVN 43 trawler

Underwater Boat Maintenance on a NORDHAVN 43 trawler

Boating isn’t always fun and games and cocktails flowing like the Mississippi River; rather, owning a boat is a lot of work and constant loving care, maintenance, repairs, etc..

Today Capt. Shawn is braving the February weather and cold water to dive below MV Freedom to inspect the hull and decide whether the “zincs” need to be changed. A happy boat is a boat that’s clean, well-cared for and always well maintained on a regular and on-going schedule.

Enjoy and happy boating!

Living aboard a trawler yacht has been an amazing experience for us. Trawler living while restoring our project boat is pretty cool and from time to time we decide to take our passagemaker trawler cruising Florida Keys. Trawler life is very different from sailing and people who want to live on a trawler full time are also very special people. Our trawler boat is 1984 Jefferson Motor Yacht that we owned for more than 6 years and we were more than happy with it. Iana on the other hand wanted a boat with sails to circumnavigate the world and that’s why we bought our steel motorsailer 1985 De Vries. And now our beautiful passagemaker is amongst other passagemaker yachts for sale.

Thank you so much for watching our Passagemaker Trawler Vlog while Restoring Steel Motorsailer in Boatyard videos and make sure to give us a BIG like for our liveaboard life trawler boat and a quick comment!

Boat Maintenance – Rig Service Part 2 – Hallberg Rassy 54 Cloudy Bay – Oct-Nov'20 – Season20 Ep22

Series of videos which covers removing the Selden rig to replace the standing rigging and service all the rig systems, plus some other winter maintenance aspects.
This Part 2 covers dismantling the foresail furler motor, removing the in-mast furling system, rebuilding various swivels and repainting the hydraulic outhaul cylinder. Plus some carpet and upholstery cleaning.
This extensive boat maintenance took place due to Covid pandemic which on a negative note caused us to defer our next leg of the circumnavigation until autumn 2021, but on a positive note gave us this opportunity to get Cloudy Bay’s systems in top shape before we cruise more remote parts of the world.
